Family Friendly and Functional

This busy young family needed a remodel that would give them a better functioning kitchen with lots of easy to access storage. They wanted it to feel light and natural but with a pop of color for fun. They hoped to take advantage of the room’s natural light and create a better traffic flow than the large peninsula offered in the previous kitchen. This remodel also included an entry hall and powder room just off of the kitchen.

We redesigned the traffic flow by taking out the closet in the dead-end entry hallway and creating a large wall-in pantry. We then created an opening so that the pantry can be accessed from the kitchen as well as from the hallway. Not wanting to see the pantry door, we constructed a tall cabinet to hide away the opening. This created a more seamless look in the kitchen. Replacing the peninsula with a large island made it easier to access the kitchen table while creating more seating area. The right hand wall of the kitchen boasts even more storage with a tall pantry and baking/work area. The use of many storage drawers makes it easy for the pre-school aged children to reach and help themselves.

Custom rift-cut oak cabinetry was selected for it’s soft color and texture as well as durability. A wonderful shade of teal blue paint was chosen for the island finish to brighten the room. Quartz countertops were chosen for their ease of use and low maintenance. The walk-in pantry is painted a soft warm gray. The gold lighting fixtures over the island and over the kitchen table finish this fun, fresh look.
