Fresh Urban Living

This young family of four wanted to update their dark and dated kitchen so that it reflected their fresh modern style. They wanted it to be practical for their two young kids but also feel stylish and sophisticated for entertaining guests.

We wanted the space to be bright and full of light. A soft, neutral color palate was in order. Light but durable rift cut white oak was selected for the cabinet bases. A pale warm gray paint was used for the upper cabinets. The home owners loved the look and feel of natural marble but worried about stains. Stoneguard Countertop Protection Film was used to protect the stone, making it a more family friendly product. Brass tones used throughout the room add warmth and shine. Black accents add a touch of drama and contrast to the soft palate as well as compliment the stone found surrounding the fireplace.

The growing family’s storage needs were met by adding lots of deep, easy to reach drawers and pantry cabinets with rollout shelves and interior lighting that flank the refrigerator. A beverage and wine bar area offers more refrigeration as well as storage. A Lemans magic corner cabinet, appliance garage, pot filler, and island prep sink are added features. A furniture-like piece abuts the island to add a casual feel. We selected lighting that complimented the fresh new look and finished the room with accessories that had a natural vibe. Together this created a kitchen that is welcoming for all ages.
