SEASIDE MASTER BATH RETREAT - OUR BATH DESIGNS

This spacious master bath was once dull and dated but we gave it a bright and sophisticated make-over! The clients’ wishes included a freestanding tub, larger shower, make-up area, enclosed toilet, and plenty of storage. Some of the architectural details that made the space interesting were also design challenges. We needed to work with the dramatic angles the ceiling created, with low clearance in some areas. The three windows in the room allowed for great lighting but were a space planning obstacle. The overall look needed to add coastal charm to the historic home.

We placed the tub in the center of the room under a window giving us wall space for symmetrical vanities on each side. To the left is a seating area with a LED mirror for applying make-up. Tall wall cabinets rest on the countertop allowing for plenty of storage. The shower fits nicely between windows in the corner of the room. A toilet closet was created in the opposite corner.

The clients love shiplap and it was a great addition to the room creating horizontal lines to offset the angles above. Rustic wooden beams were added for character and texture. The floor tile is laid in a large scale herringbone pattern to reflect the angled ceiling. A semi-custom cabinet line was used with the addition of custom elements. These include the blue stained floating walnut shelves and matching wood cap on the quartz backsplash. The Acacia wood mirrors and oil rubbed bronze fixtures add warmth to the white room. In the shower a “wood grain” tile was used in a vertical pattern to contrast the strong horizontal shiplap. The final touches include a stunning beaded chandelier above the tub. This bathroom is a perfect balance of coastal comfort and sophistication.
